Garage Equipment Guide: Diagnose & Maintain Your Vehicle Efficiently

If you are thinking of opening a new garage or home garage. There are some essential equipment that are required in the garage like wrenches, screwdrivers, bolt and nut extractors, air compressor, some diagnostic tools for leak detection, electrical fault detection and many more.

In today's article, we are going to discuss the Garage Equipment which is used to diagnose the vehicle as an electrical and mechanical component in your car. Many companies make var diagnose equipment like Bosch diagnose, Maverick diagnose, 4U Car Parts Ltd, Superchips and Snap-on.

What are the types of issues detected by these garage equipment?

Some of the issues that can be detected by these garage tools include engine performance, fuel consumption and one of the main issues carbon emissions released by the vehicle. It also detects the tyre's air pressure with the help of the sensors and electrical leakage and fault detection in your car.

What are the different types of car diagnoses?

The different types of car diagnose that are used in the garage include ODB2, tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), car battery testers, smoke detectors, heavy-duty scan tools circuit testers and multimeter devices that are used to diagnose the vehicle in a garage.

Tyre pressure monitoring system

A Tyre pressure monitoring system is a device which is used to measure the air pressure in your tyre. If your vehicle is registered after 1 November 2014, it is pre-installed in your car. It is a safety device which indicates the tyre pressure with the help of a sensor. A sensor detects the tyre pressure and to this data the car dashboard. It generally measures low pressure, and temperature and inflates tyres.

There are two types of TPMS

Direct TPMS

In direct TPMS, we can directly check through the machine. The machine is connected to the tyre valve and gets all the data with the help of sensors that are present in the device.

Indirect TPMS

Indirect TPMS take the data with the help of ABS(Anti Brake System), wheel rotation and EBS(electronic stability system).

Battery tester

Battery testers are garage equipment which is used to detect the faults and damage of batteries including leakage and losses of wires and they also check the voltage of the battery.

Two types of battery testers are available in the market

Electronic tester

An electronic tester is a device which is used to take accurate readings of discharged battery

Load tester

It is a device which takes data readings when the battery is charged above 85%.

Multimeter tester

Multimeters are similar to the battery but they can check the voltage, electric current and resistance of the wires in your car.

Smoke machine

Smoke machines are used to locate the leak and damage in EVAP(Evaporate Emission) in your car. It also helps to detect leaks and damage in the vacuum tube, exhaust system and turbocharger system of your car. Some of the reasons that cause leaks and damage to your vehicle include poor fuel efficiency, decreased engine performance and engine light.

OBD 1 and OBD 2

OBD stands for on-board diagnosis. It is a device used to monitor and report on the performance of the vehicle including the engine, exhaust system and other critical systems. There are two standards of OBD. OBD 1 and OBD 2.

OBD 1

OBD 1 is introduced in the 1996. It is a device which reads the condition of the engine performance and exhaust system that important for environmental aspects. The connector of OBD 1 is unique for all the vehicles. It has limited property. It only focuses on the emissions released by the vehicles.

OBD 2

OBD is similar to OBD 1. It is introduced in the 2006. It is the upgraded version of OBD1 which detects the data precisely and quickly. It has 16 16-pin connectors that are attached to other components of the vehicle.

Heavy-duty scan tools(HDST)

Heavy-duty scan tools are used to detect and read the complex code that is an issue of the vehicle problem related to performance, fuel efficiency and other critical system for heavy vehicles and cars.

Is it worth buying car diagnosis equipment online?

Yes, you can buy your Garage Equipment online on different websites like Bosch Diagnostics, maverick Diagnostics, 4u car parts, Ges services.com and many more sites where you can any equipment for your garage as well as your home garage. Online you can compare the prices on different sites and also check the reviews of any product that you are buying.

How to choose the right vehicle diagnostic tools?

There are multiple ways to choose the right diagnostic tools:-

  • You can the reviews of the tools
  • You need to understand what is the need for the equipment.
  • Always buy a trustworthy brand which has good reviews
  • You can compare the quality of tools to other
  • You can also check the price of different price
  • You can check the compatibility of tools
  • Check the warranty and guarantee of tools.

Conclusion

In this blog, we can understand the diagnosed tools that are used in the garage for providing better reading and data on some electrical and mechanical components of your car including battery checker, and multimeter.

TPMS, HDST and OBD devices which are used to check the condition of the vehicle engine performance and carbon emission released in your cars. We also discussed how to buy online equipment and buying of right tools.
